The Las Alturas area is located east of the university and south of the university's golf course.  This area tends to have lots of at least one acre or more.  The homes are mostly southwestern in appearance.  The tendency of the property owners is to leave as much of the landscape as natural desert.  Because of the availability of habitat, the area supports a good deal of native wildlife.
